Seed Processing

Canada enjoys an international reputation for producing, processing, and exporting high-quality seed for a wide range of crops. At a national level, we are applying leading-edge research and biotechnologies to ensure the highest quality of seeds (which, after all, are the literal starting point for the entire food economy).

This effort is redoubled at a provincial level: Alberta Seed Processors or ASP (formerly known as Alberta Association of Co-op Seed Cleaning Plants), is an association of farmer-owned seed and grain processing co-ops with a vision to create seed and grain processing opportunities for local and global markets. Led by a business-minded Board of Directors, ASP is constantly searching for innovations that will lead to better seed processing. Their efforts are exemplified by their recent investment of over $17 million to modernize Alberta’s seed processing facilities.
